Person Centred Counselling for Individuals and Couples
Welcome, and thank you for visiting Jan Blake Counselling where I offer personalised Counselling services to meet your needs. I am based at St Neots and Bedford for in person appointments for individuals over 18 and Couples. I also offer On-line or telephone Counselling.
At Jan Blake Counselling I offer person centred Counselling which puts you at the heart of our therapeutic journey together and respecting your individuality and uniqueness. This approach also respects the aspect of the individual within a couple and how that dynamic plays out within the relationship.
As a Counsellor I believe this approach allows you to lead the direction of each session from your place of lived experience. After all, you are the expert on yourself and this approach encourages and enables you to become more self-aware about why you feel as you. Understanding this through talking therapy will help you to gain confidence and achieve greater independence.
With a diverse career ranging from being a Dental Nurse on first leaving school to more recently supporting Veterans with Homelessness issues and Mental Health, I have always been dedicated to helping people navigate the difficulties or challenges they are facing. The common thread has been support and help for people struggling with their mental health, Disabilities, substance abuse or just generally unable to cope with day to day living for many reasons.
I always saw the person in front of me and would do my best to work in a way that benefited them. I was often told I was a good listener and people with problems did seem to gravitate towards me.
It was from that background that I decided to pursue training as a Counsellor and from the first day, I knew I had found my niche. So here I am, an experienced fully qualified Counsellor ready to help you work through whatever is troubling you. It's hard to take that first step and yet here you are so let's walk this path together.
Struggling with Anxiety, depression, panic attacks, low confidence? Wondering if you have ADHD/Autism/Borderline Personality Disorder and what that might mean?
Trying to live with Trauma and PTSD from a recent or past experience?
We all face difficulties in life that we feel we have no idea how to get on top of. Counselling gives us the tools we can use to help gain a better understanding of what's causing you to feel this way and how you can move towards managing or resolving them.
All Relationships can get into difficulties for many reasons. Often we lose our way amid the pressures of the day to day leading us to a place of disharmony.
I offer Couples Counselling that identifies where the issues are and helps you to reconnect. In my experience, communication is a key issue for most couples causing difficulties in their everyday lives that can be hard to get on top of. Drawing on different approaches, Counselling will help you hear and understand each other helping you to have the relationship you want as a Couple.
Working together I can help you gain greater insight into the difficulties you are facing. As a Counsellor, my role is to help you to understand why you act or react to them in the way you do and see how you can start to make better, healthier choices going forward
